Help Cameron Heal
On August 11, Ashley and Joddy's son, and our nephew, Cameron, suffered a serious injury during football practice that changed everything in an instant.
He was rushed to Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), where he has remained ever since. What initially appeared to be a concussion became much more complicated. Cameron has undergone multiple CT scans, an MRI, and numerous procedures as doctors closely monitor dangerous pressure on his brain. They had hoped his body would begin draining fluid on its own so they could safely remove the drain tube, but unfortunately that didn't happen. As a result, Cameron now needs surgery to help relieve the pressure.
As if that weren't enough, Cameron had just gotten braces a few weeks before this happened. Because he needed an MRI, his orthodontist had to remove them while he was lying in his hospital bed. Once he recovers, those braces will need to be put back on, creating another unexpected expense.
This should have been an exciting time in Cameron's life. He was looking forward to starting his freshman year of high school, making new friends, and beginning a new chapter. Instead, he has spent his first weeks of high school in a hospital room, facing surgeries, tests, and an uncertain recovery. The emotional toll on him and his family has been heartbreaking.
His parents, my sister and brother-in-law, own a small business. Since Cameron's hospitalization, they have been by his side every single day, putting work on hold so they can support their son through this frightening experience. Like many small business owners, when they aren't able to work, income stops—but the bills don't.
We're hoping to raise $5,500 to help relieve some of the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time. Your donation will help cover household expenses, lost income, medical costs, and the expenses that come with Cameron's ongoing care and recovery.
