We’re Going to the World Championships! 🇺🇸🐾
I’m beyond excited to share that we’ve officially qualified to represent Team USA at the 2025 IFSS World Dryland Championships this October 21-26th in Minocqua, Wisconsin — the equivalent to the Olympics for sleddog racing!
Lute and I will be racing in the 1-dog women's and men's elite bikejor class respectively, competing against the top riders and canine athletes from around the world. This is a dream come true, and a journey I have poured everything into for three years (from importing our amazing canine teammates from a top racer in Canada, to spending the last few seasons traveling to races in over 11 states and Canadian provinces).
Our canine powerhouse duo, Leifr and Knute, are purpose-bred sled dogs imported from Canada, and have been incredible partners— bred for the sport, but even more driven by the bond we’ve built. This team was built on literal blood, sweat, and tears and we’re ready to give it everything.
As part of the Stierman Racing Team, this journey is also a family one. Our two kids (ages 8 and 10) also compete in dryland mushing, and our weekends are filled with racing, training, and traveling together. We’re a team in every sense of the word.
💸 Competing at the world level comes with real costs. From race fees, lodging, and travel to race kits, gear, training, nutrition, and dog care, the financial demands are high. We plan to attend 1 pre-race to adjust ourselves and our canines to the race environment for the season, and then on to Worlds, which is a week-long event. We have set up a detailed budget and estimate pre-race and Worlds costs to be $7197. I'm happy to share that report with anyone. 🏁 Last season, Leifr and I finished on the podium in 6 of 7 races which earned us a 1st place in the 2024/2025 World Cup. We also took a 3rd place podium at the 2024 Continental Championships against a very stacked field of competitors! Knute was a bit younger, but he and Lute were able to debut at the last qualifier race of the season. We've been working hard this summer to continue his training in preparation for competing on the world stage. That hard work and your past encouragement helped secure these spots on Team USA. Now, with Worlds happening right here in the U.S., it’s more accessible, but we still need help getting there.
