Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted supporters,
October 2024 was the start of Margarett’s cancer journey. At the age of 2, Margarett was diagnosed with stage 4 hepatoblastoma, a rare liver cancer. We all prayed hard for an earthly miracle but on December 11th, Margarett received her miracle and went to her heavenly home. During Margarett’s fight, Margarett endured several rounds of chemo, a partial liver resection, air lifted out for a rupture and repair of her diaphragm, multiple right and left lung nodules surgically removed, and several hospital stays due to infections and viruses. In September of 2025, Margarett had taken a break from treatment after the last surgery until the next CT scans were needed. Those CT scans showed her cancer had spread all throughout her body and into her lymph nodes. At this point, Margarett’s doctors were ok with stopping treatment and allowing her to enjoy the time she had left since her options were basically non-existent. As a family, we proceeded to see if a clinical trial was in her favor so we made the appointments to get the scans completed to see if her body would be able to endure the treatment. At that appointment, we found out her bone density was not strong enough for the clinical trial. Margarett’s breathing started to hinder rapidly from the growth of nodules pushing on her airway to properly fully breathe on her own. We were sent home to begin hospice care as Margarett’s cancer progression was taking over her little body. We took this time seriously and tried to make so many lifetime memories we would not be able to get with Margarett here on earth over the years to come. These memories were made possible from our generous communities and friends who wanted nothing but happiness to be felt and done for our sweet girl. From the time we were told this news, to the day she gained her angel wings, it was exactly one month. Our hospice team was absolutely amazing and helped us navigate the worst moments of our life. Our hearts ache with the absence of her presence, but we know we serve a good God that one day we will all be reunited.
We know Margarett would want nothing more than to keep spreading JOY and the AMAZING God we serve. That being said, we are determined to keep her little light shining bright. One of Margarett’s favorite things to do while in treatment was making friends with the nurses and kiddos that were fighting a similar battle to her. She LOVED bringing joy to them and finding ways to put a smile on their face. This memorial fund is going to continue in hopes to keep providing hope and joy to those who fight a similar fight in their life. Together we will continue the good fight with God on our side.
With all of our love and gratitude,
Margarett's Family
