Help Mercy Heal And Find Her Home ❤️

We’ve been getting a lot of people asking for an update on the dog found critically injured on I355 after the 4th of July, so here’s an update on Mercy!

This Shepherd/Cattle dog was found on the side of the road after suffering trauma leaving her leg nearly off. A Good Samaritan brought her to the Mokena ER where we took over her care and veterinary bill. She was transferred to Midwest Animal Hospital where their staff stayed late to give her the emergency care she needed. Mercy needed an immediate leg amputation to survive the day, and luckily Dr.Lukas at Midwest rushed her to surgery and saved her life. We are so grateful for the wonderful team at Midwest who always goes above and beyond for the animals!

Now Mercy is healing and can stand up again! She has a long road to recovery and will still need to heal before she’s available for adoption. We have not found Mercy’s family, but we are hopeful someone is looking for her.

Update:

Mercy is currently in her recovery process from having her leg amputated a couple days ago. We got word this morning that she still has a long road of recovery ahead, but is overall in good spirits and on the right path. Thank you all for the support for Mercy!

UPDATE:

Mercy was brought in for surgery and did need to have the leg amputated and she's resting now. The leg was pretty limp when my husband was getting her situated in the car so I would guess that was the only option.

This is all the information we have so far but as we continue to get more updates we will keep people informed.

At this point, we are unsure what her clear path to health will look like.

I hope she has another chance at life and can make a special pet for someone or a family.
