Excited for another year of being able to support local community families in need for the holidays.
Through the Extended Family Program of Walnut Creek United Methodist Church (tax id # 94-1546862), partnered with Shelter Inc which identifies and assists in-need individuals and families, we get a list of names and needs. Gidget, our point coordinator receives names and we are given family #, how many members, Children- age and gender, and their wish lists. Commonly on the list are the toys for children, learning tools, clothes, shoes, household items, and pantry/toiletry items for the family. We fulfil the wish lists and provide goodies especially for the children and prepare stockings as well for each child. Last year we satisfied the list for 61 people.In addition, a portion of the money we as a chapter raise gets distributed to the El Monte Elementary School in Concord’s 5th grade Outdoor Education Program.
