I lost my job with the federal government in July because of Elon Musk's DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency). After 15 year as a civil servant and 22 years as a military spouse, I dedicated my entire adulthood to the US Government. After 25 years of marriage, my husband left me for my childhood friend, leaving me alone with all my bills. I have been looking for employment since I got laid of by DOGE. Unfortunately, the job market is bad, it's not easy to find a job. One day, I got a part time job offer, $700 a week plus commission with a company called Singular. I started, then they kept asking me to invest to get more money, and in a moment of desperation, I ended up losing all my retirement money (about 45 thousand dollars). I vented about it on X, formerly twitter to find out if people were scammed like me, turned out, a lot of people messaged me. One of them told me she got scammed as well and ended up getting her money back because of a recovery company called Recover/Recoup. I decided to take my chances with that company to recover my money, each time to get my money recovered, they asked me to transfer money to them in crypto currency. The accumulation of fees ended up being 12.4 thousand dollars, my entire saving.
My dream was to open a restaurant or get a food truck. Unfortunately, l did not have enough funds. In my desperate attempt to get enough funds and pay my bills, I ended up getting scammed twice. I can't sleep, I am depressed, I have no other recourse. I created a go fund me and a spotfund for my restaurant, but I am giving up. All I need right now is some help to survive until I find a job. I know it was stupid of me to trust these sites that scammed me, but desperation comes with stupid decision; I was so desperate and stupid and I can only blame myself.
