Seven Years of Investing in Our Community—And We're Just Getting Started
Seven years ago, Kick Back 2 School started with a simple mission: make sure children in our community walked into school with confidence by providing them with a new pair of shoes.
Every year since, our community has answered the call.
Together, we've helped hundreds of children start the school year knowing they were seen, valued, and supported. Those moments have been unforgettable, but over the years we began asking ourselves an important question:
What if our impact didn't begin and end with a pair of shoes?
This year, we decided to take a step toward something bigger.
We launched a pilot program called Dream Readers, challenging 50 children to spend their summer reading. The response exceeded every expectation. Collectively, these students logged more than 500 hours of reading, choosing to invest their time in learning, growing, and expanding their imagination.
That changed everything.
We realized that our mission isn't just about helping children get ready for school—it's about helping prepare them for life.
We believe that literacy builds confidence. Education creates opportunity. Creativity inspires innovation. When we encourage children to develop these qualities at a young age, we're not just changing individual lives—we're strengthening families and building a better community for generations to come.
That's why our 7th Annual Kick Back 2 School Campaign is centered around these young readers.
These students accepted the challenge. They put in the work. Now we want to celebrate their commitment by rewarding them with brand-new back-to-school shoes and reminding them that their community recognizes their effort.
But this is only the beginning.
Our vision is to expand Dream Readers into a year-round program that reaches even more children, encourages a lifelong love of reading, nurtures creativity, and helps young people discover what's possible for their futures.
