Recently, my family in Jamaica suffered severe damage to their home when strong winds and heavy rains tore the roof completely off during Hurricane Melissa. What used to be a safe and loving home is now exposed to the elements — their belongings soaked, their walls weakened, and their sense of security shaken.
While we are grateful that everyone is safe, the loss has been devastating. My family now faces the urgent need to rebuild their roof and repair the water damage before the next round of storms. In Jamaica, resources and materials can be costly, and many repairs require immediate payment to begin.
I’m starting this GoFundMe to raise funds to:
- Rebuild and secure the roof structure
- Replace damaged furniture and belongings
- Repair electrical and water damage
- Provide basic necessities (bedding, food, and supplies) while repairs are underway
