Desert Harbor Youth and Teen Center along with the Family Resource Center of the Te-Cities needs your help. When Covid hit our area and the government shut us down we couldn't sit back and relax. So we started hosting big food drives. We soon realized that the need was huge. We got Grants from local and state agencies to continue our efforts. We delivered food to over 60 people per week. Within a 50 mile radius. When funds ran out we switched over to premade food boxes. We soon realized this method was so common in other food banks that we took all the precautions possible and made our food bank into a Grocery store. When families stop by they choose everything they take. This allows for them to worthly of themselves instead of feeling bad for attending a food bank.
We also provide coats, gifts, hygiene items and so much more. The space we current occupancy is too small for us. We are only allowed to let 6 people in at a time. Leaving other families out in the cold. I'm 2021 we served over 8,000 individuals with food.
Our food bank continues to grow because on how unique it is. Sometimes we have to turn away donations because we don't have space to house everything.
This new building would allow us the space to serve our clients and grow!
