Last year I discovered that I love photography! Since then, I have gone from not knowing what an aperture is to coaching multiple other budding photographers and from never dreaming of being featured in a gallery to being featured in galleries in Bangkok, Melbourne, Athens, London, Barcelona, New York, and Chicago and in an online magazine, Dodho.
Now, I wanna do photography professionally. I found work at a photography company that is compatible with the building of my own business. I joined Professional Photographers of America and am on track to be a Certified Professional Photographer this year. I'm serious about this.
This fundraiser is launching for a short time as part of my 27th birthday! Launching a business takes a big investment, even in something with relatively low overhead, like photography. The best gift I could receive this year is your help in pursuing this dream.
There is gear, computers, software, education, accounting and legal resources, insurance, printing, websites, advertising, insurance, and so much more! Your support brings me that much closer to setting the foundation for the long-term pursuit of this passion.
More important than all of that is to be legally recognized and able to travel. The two most immediate projects for me are to change my legal name and then get a passport. This is where these funds will go first, everything else is a stretch goal. That goal is about $700
Photography, to me, is like a social safety blanket, a way to connect with anyone and everyone, and a passport to places and scenes I never dreamed of being part of (like when one of my favorite bands pulled me on stage to take photos with them)! As I set the foundation for this to be a lifelong pursuit the impact of any and all support is huge.
