Myla Miracle – Childhood Cancer fighter.
Hello, my name is Jackie, and I’m reaching out to share the story of my best friend’s daughter, Myla Miracle, who I consider my niece. Myla is a brilliant, athletic, and compassionate 14-year-old with big dreams. She’s always wanted to be a doctor, and she's on track to make that dream a reality. Myla has a deep passion for cheerleading, supporting her brother on the high school cheer squad, and competing on two incredible teams this past season—one as a base and the other as a flyer.
However, Myla's life changed overnight before an exciting cheer competition she had been eagerly anticipating. The Dr had called with the results of the lump she noticed 4 weeks prior, Sarcoma Cancer and her daughter needed to be admitted for further testing. Myla had to stay in the hospital for six days, undergoing numerous tests, including blood work, a biopsy surgery, and having a port placed for her treatments. During that time they received the official diagnosis...Stage 3 Spindle Cell Rhabdomyosarcoma.
It's likely that she won't be able to have children after her cancer treatments and she also needed to begin IVF treatment immediately, followed by egg retrieval surgery. During this time, she underwent additional biopsy surgeries.
Now, Myla is entering her fourth week of chemotherapy out of a long 36-week treatment plan. We are incredibly grateful for the support she has received so far, which has been crucial in helping her reach this point in her battle.
Myla’s mom has been a single parent for eight years, working at least 50 hours a week since I’ve known her. Since Myla’s diagnosis, however, she’s had to significantly reduce her work hours. Myla and her mom travel six hours round trip every week for her treatments, and now, her mom can only work on days when Myla is feeling well enough for her to leave the house.
I’m hoping to ease the financial burden on my chosen sister, my best friend, by helping raise funds so she doesn’t have to worry as much about her “one-income family” bills. This would allow her to focus on being there for Myla, who needs her support more than ever.
Myla still has 33 weeks of chemotherapy left ahead of her, and we’re deeply grateful for everyone who has helped her through these first few months of this unexpected and challenging journey. Thank you for your support and for being a part of Myla's journey.
