Dear friends and kind strangers,
I am reaching out to you today in a state of absolute desperation to ask for your help. Our family has always worked hard to overcome adversity, but a series of consecutive crises has now left us homeless and on the brink of bankruptcy.
Business Closure and a 40% Pay Cut Due to Rent Hikes
Since 2017, we poured our lifetime savings, sweat, and tears into building a small business. We worked incredibly hard and somehow managed to survive the grueling COVID-19 crisis. However, in January 2025, we were ultimately forced to close our doors due to a sudden and unaffordable rent increase by our landlord. To make matters worse, my husband lost his job shortly after, and the salary at his new job is 40% lower than before.
Hit-and-Run Accident and Rehabilitation
This past February, our family of three was involved in a hit-and-run accident on the highway. Fortunately, the driver was caught, and the perpetrator's insurance company is currently covering our medical expenses. However, because we are hourly wage earners, we have to cut our working hours every time we go for treatment. Although we can claim compensation for lost wages later, missing even a single day of work for treatment right now severely worsens our immediate financial hardship.
Eviction Crisis
With our income plummeting, we have been unable to pay our rent on time. We are now living in constant anxiety, not knowing when we might be evicted. We cannot even afford the moving expenses to relocate to a cheaper place.
Legal and Debt Crisis
We attempted to file for bankruptcy to resolve our remaining business debts, but we cannot afford the legal fees, which amount to thousands of dollars. Furthermore, creditors have already obtained a court judgment to garnish my husband's reduced wages, and our applications for government assistance have been denied.
We are not asking for a comfortable life. We are simply and desperately pleading for a lifeline to survive. Your warm donations will be used directly to pay our overdue rent to prevent forced eviction, and to secure the legal fees needed to file for bankruptcy to stop the wage garnishment.
Even if you cannot donate right now, simply sharing this link with those around you can give our family the hope we need to get through this incredibly difficult time. We are truly grateful for your prayers and support.
We sincerely apologize if this post made you uncomfortable.
