On the night of Friday, March 4th, the third-floor balcony railing gave way as Dylan Farinet shook out a blanket and he fell three stories to the cement parking lot below. Neither the paramedics who transported him by ambulance, or the trauma team that greeted him at the emergency room or the staff at MCV can understand how he survived the fall and is still with us today. He has a fractured vertebra, a broken elbow, broken ribs and a broken face when you figure in the fractured eyebrow ridge and the sinus cavity.
On Monday, March 7th in the afternoon, Dylan will be having surgery for his fractured vertebra. They will be putting in plates and pins and his surgeon expects that it will take anywhere from 3 to 6 months before Dylan is recovered enough from surgery to begin what he terms, “extensive” physical therapy.
Needless to say, Dylan is out of work for an extensive period of time and to make matters worse, Dylan had not yet been at his job long enough to qualify for health insurance benefits.
Some of you might know Dylan from his days playing basketball and football in Colonial Beach, but Dylan is also a son, a brother, a friend, an uncle, and a boyfriend. He is fortunate to be loved by so many people – family members and friends and right now he needs help to get through this.
Please share his story.
