My name is Mohammad Kashko, and I am a Palestinian from Gaza.
I never imagined that one day I would lose everything all at once.
During one of the airstrikes, the residential building where we lived was bombed. It was home to my entire family. In just a few moments, my whole life was reduced to rubble.
My father, my mother, my brothers and sisters, and every member of my family were killed. In total, I lost 75 of the people closest to my heart.
I was left completely alone.
I was trapped beneath the rubble alongside those who had been killed. I did not know whether I would make it out alive or become the next victim. After several hours, rescue teams managed to pull me from the debris, but I emerged with a broken body and a life that would never be the same again.
The explosion caused a severe fracture to my L1 vertebra, leaving me paralyzed and unable to move. It also caused serious damage to the nerves controlling my bladder and bowel, leaving me unable to control either of themβa condition I continue to live with to this day.
I spent more than two months in Al-Shifa Hospital, completely bedridden, unable to receive the surgery I desperately needed because of the war and the collapse of the healthcare system.
Later, I was transferred to Egypt, where I underwent spinal surgery and received an artificial vertebral implant. After many months of pain, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and daily exercises, I was finally able to walk again. But my suffering did not end there.
To this day, I still have no control over my bladder or bowel. This affects every part of my daily life. It fills my days with pain and embarrassment and has prevented me from continuing my education, working, or even leaving my home with confidence. I spend most of my time indoors because I am ashamed of my condition and live in constant fear of the humiliation it can cause.
Algeria generously welcomed me for medical treatment, and I have now been here for three years. Unfortunately, I have not been able to receive the specialized treatment I need because the necessary medical resources are not available.
Today, my doctors have told me that my best hope for improving my condition is to undergo specialized surgery followed by advanced rehabilitation at a medical center abroad.
The surgery alone is expected to cost approximately $55,000 USD, not including travel, accommodation, medical examinations, rehabilitation, transportation, and other related expenses. It is simply impossible for me to afford these costs on my own.
I never imagined I would have to ask for help. But today, I stand alone in this world. I have lost my entire family, my home, and my health. The only thing I have left is my faith in God and the kindness of compassionate people.
If you are able to support me with any amount, no matter how small, you will be giving me a real chance to continue my treatment and regain part of my life and dignity.
If you are unable to donate, simply sharing my story could help it reach someone who can change my life.
May God bless everyone who takes the time to read my story or support me in any way.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
