My name is Autumn and I am writing this to help encourage those who feel led, to help save my cousin Lee Jernigan’s life. He has had some very serious health problems and spent a couple months in the ICU at Piedmont in Columbus, GA. The doctors told us that he most likely was not going to make it. He spent a couple weeks in a drug induced coma, to help his body heal as he was fighting double pneumonia and a serious infection. The infection caused a growth to form on his shoulder and they performed surgery to remove the tissue and to perform a biopsy on the tissue. The test came back non cancerous and the hospital decided to release him right before his 34th birthday, August the 16th. Lee is still unable to walk on his own and went from 160lbs to less than 100lbs in such a short period of time. The area where the mass was has gotten worse and the scab protecting the inside of his shoulder has come off. It is making him susceptible to more infection and is extremely painful. His inability to walk without a walker has caused him to fall multiple times and has caused it to worsen. He has an appointment at EMORY in Atlanta Ga on the 15th of October. Being that Lee and his mother live alone and Lee is unable to return to work, they are in dire need of transportation to get him to his doctors appointments and extend his life as well as increase his quality of life. We have very little resources as a family and are doing our best to help any way we can financially. We are asking that anyone who feels led to please spare any amount to help them raise money to get a vehicle and to help provide room and board as it looks like he will be admitted to Emory for an unknown amount of time. Lee has always been a fighter and has already defied all the odds against him and the doctors were astonished when he woke up while intubated. The doctors had already called the family in and told us he wouldn’t make it out and he has. However, he is still in need of care and any amount donated is greatly appreciated. We ask that if you feel it in your heart to donate but cannot afford to, that you please share this fund raiser to help save Janet, his mothers, only child and allow him the opportunity to live a life full of happiness, free of pain and all illness. We thank God he is still here and know that God will provide a way. We thank anyone who has taken the time to read this far and for any support given. His shoulder is literally gaping open and all the doctors say is “don’t bring him in unless he has a fever or chills”. We need another miracle to help us get him the treatment needed.
thank you all very much. #SupportLee
