Help Rachel & Her Husband Mike Through the Fight of Their Lives
We met Rachel MANY moons ago...so long ago that we dare not say it out loud. She is, and always will be, a force of nature! With her distinctive Boston accent and swagger, she quickly becomes a person you want to be friends with and to hang out with. She has an honesty that will make some blanch, but if you look past the hard exterior, you see the kind heart behind it all. You see a person that would stay by her friends hospice bed and help take of him while he transitions in life. You see a woman that would give her last to you, but won't ask for help when she needs it. But she NEEDS us now!!
Rachel was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease, at the beginning of December 2025, just days before her birthday. VERY RECENTLY. She has had rapid progression of the disease, and is barely mobile. She now needs her wheelchair to get around and is partially paralyzed on one side. They have burned through their savings and are struggling to pay for basic medical needs and essentials. They need our help!
They need to convert their downstairs into a living space for her, which they are trying to do. They need to outfit the downstairs bathroom with a roll-in shower and proof the house for her chair to navigate the space.
There is NO CURE for this debilitating disease. We can only manage some of the symptoms as the disease progresses. Mike is shouldering a lot of her daily care, all while attempting to work from home. We are asking you to help them in any way you can. Monetarily or otherwise. Helping provide meals would also be helpful.
