Nearly a year ago, I received news that changed everything—an unexpected diagnosis of stage 4 renal cell cancer. At the time, I was a GM at Check Into Cash, dedicated to my work and pouring myself into it with full-time hours and plenty of overtime. This was more than a job to me. It was a place where I was learning, growing, and truly finding my way in such a crazy world. Cancer wasn't part of my plan. Suddenly, the goals I had were overshadowed by doctors' appointments, treatments, and the overwhelming weight of this illness. It's often a struggle just to keep up with the day-to-day, and despite my best efforts, the financial strain is becoming too much to bear. I lost our home and had to move due to the lack of being about to work let alone stand at times. Throughout this journey, I’ve been grateful for the moments of kindness and connection from friends and even strangers. These reminders of community have been as healing for the spirit as any treatment for the body. Now, I’m reaching out for help to cover some of these unexpected medical expenses.
