Help Bozeman Recover From Emergency Bloat Surgery
Bozeman is our harlequin Great Dane — a sweet, playful, silly, sleepy 9-year-old boy who has never met a couch cushion he didn’t claim as his own.
On Saturday, August 15th, we were having an ordinary evening at home. Bozeman was acting a little restless, so we had him settle on the love seat while my fiancé Devin and I relaxed on the couch. When he got up again, we figured it was time for a bathroom break. But outside, something was clearly wrong — he was drooling heavily and straining to vomit with nothing coming up. I felt his belly and knew immediately it was bloat.
Devin called the emergency vet right away and we rushed Bozeman in. The ER team got him on IV fluids for pain and nausea, then took an X-ray that confirmed our fear — his stomach had flipped, and he needed emergency surgery to survive. We paid a steep down payment and set up financing on the spot so they could get him into surgery immediately.
Two agonizing hours later, we got the news we were waiting for: Bozeman made it through surgery and was doing great. We finally got home around 11pm that night, exhausted and relieved — but knowing recovery is still ahead of us, and so are the bills.
Why I’m asking for help
Devin would never set up a fundraiser for himself — he’s the guy who shows up for everyone else. He works hard as an operator for Piceance Well Service, and he has been Bozeman’s dad for all nine years of his life. Anyone who knows Devin knows how thoughtful and caring he is, to Bozeman and to everyone around him.
I’m asking on his behalf so he can focus on being there for Bozeman during recovery instead of carrying the financial stress alone. Any contribution — or even just a share — would mean the world to us.
