I never imagined that I would be asking for support for my amazing mother who has been my Angel since I became disabled in 2012. She was my biggest supporter both mentally and financially when I first had to leave my employer after 26 years due to severe chronic pain. She was my rock and I honestly don’t know what I would have done without her.
It seems however, that now the tables have turned. About 4 years ago I started to notice small subtle changes in my mother. She was losing her sense of direction, repeating herself often and beginning to be a little more forgetful than usual as someone of her age would normally be. The doctor stated it was beginning of dementia and started her on medication. It helps slow the progression somewhat but now it’s becoming more prominent each day.
As you guess by now I’m her daughter and have lived in the downstairs apt since 2003. I’ve been taking care of her but it’s becoming increasingly hard since I’m also dealing with my own disabling condition. Unfortunately to make matters worse, I only recently found out that my mother was not eligible for Part B Medicare due to the fact that she never paid into it from when she began working. Here’s the ironic part, she worked over 30 years for the Social Security Administration!!
I’m sorry about the length of this request.
So here we are today, I wake up hoping I’ll have the strength both physically and mentally to help her but I see that I do need to get a health aid to help with my mother. It’s just getting worse with each passing week.
I thank you in advance for any assistance that you may be able to give….
Gob Bless You All
