Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,
My name is Nicole Pipe Cox and I am reaching out to ask for help for my dear friend, Chris Pettingill. Chris is a man who has always put others before himself, but right now, he is completely starting over from zero and desperately needs our community's support.
For the last decade, Chris dedicated his life to being a full-time caregiver for his mother, who suffers from dementia. They lived together in a trailer park, where Chris did everything he could to keep her safe, comfortable, and loved as her illness progressed. Tragically, due to a cruel turn of events, his family stole his mother's life savings, leaving both Chris and his mom with absolutely nothing to fall back on.
A few weeks ago, the unthinkable happened. In a moment of confusion caused by her dementia, Chris’s mother accidentally misplaced an ashtray into a trash can. Within minutes, their home burned completely to the ground. They lost everything they owned in the world.
Today, his mother is safe and cared for in a professional facility, but Chris has been left entirely homeless and pennyless. He is currently working himself to the bone to survive—working grueling 12-hour shifts for 11 days straight, with only three days off, making about $700 a week. Despite his incredible work ethic, it is impossible to save enough for a new security deposit, rent, and basic life necessities while starting completely from scratch. To make matters worse, his beloved dog is deeply traumatized from the fire and the sudden loss of their home.
My dear friend Chris Claps has taken Chris and his dog into his home because he couldn't watch a good human being sleep on the streets. He is completely exhausted, overwhelmed, and trying to process a lifetime of trauma while working nonstop.
Chris gave up years of his life to care for his mom, and now he has nothing left. We are raising funds to help Chris:
• Secure a safe, permanent apartment of his own.
• Purchase basic necessities (clothes, shoes, and food).
• Replace essential items for his traumatized dog.
• Establish a small financial safety net to get back on his feet.
Real friends are few and far between in this world. Please consider donating to help Chris rebuild his life after losing everything. If you cannot donate, please share this link. Every little bit helps.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
