A faithful, young family in our community is experiencing incredibly trying circumstances.
Catherine Brown tragically lost her unborn baby, Josephine Rose, at the end of June. Kit was seriously injured and the family home was burglarized. This campaign is to support funeral and burial expenses for baby Josephine as well as to help the family manage expenses, especially with time away from work and recovery from all that was stolen/resecuring the home.
You probably know Catherine as Kit. Your children may know her as Coach Kit, and many others know her as a referee of youth and high school lacrosse games. Most everyone knows her as Theo's mom. However you know her, Kit is a beacon of light in our community.
Kit and her son Theo are very active in the OLV Elementary School community. Kit coached three sports at the school this past year, headed up multiple fundraisers and volunteers at every opportunity.
If there is anyone who deserves a rally of support, it is Kit -- the epitome of a dedicated friend and a woman overly generous with her time, energy and support.
Kit is a fairly private person and most are unaware she was violently assaulted by a family member of her [former] partner. Injuries from the assault caused Josephine to pass. The Brown family home was also recently burglarized - her wallet and all of the money she had saved for the funeral was taken, along with her car keys, house keys, license, all other ID cards, bank cards, family heirloom jewelry, gift certificates, gift cards and much, much more.
Please lift the Brown family in prayer and support Kit and Theo in any way you can as they grieve and navigate this difficult space -- honoring Josephine's short life, finding justice for Kit and the baby within the legal system, finding safety again, as well as managing Kit's ongoing injuries which include multiple torn disks in her back.
A funeral for Josephine is being held at Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Lackawanna on Saturday, July 18th at 10:30AM (though the Browns are parishioners at Christ the King Chapel at Canisius).
