Transcare EMS will be placed in Underhill VT where it will serve as a nonprofit ambulance service. The main purpose of the business will be to respond to 911 calls that are problematic to Essex Rescue when they are trying to serve their own local area. Underhill and Jericho do not have an ambulance service which is very hard on Essex Rescue. Essex often gets tied up in Underhill, and as a result they need to call for mutual aid from other ambulance services. It takes 20 minutes to get to Underhill even with lights and sirens on. If someone was in cardiac arrest every minute lost without epi and meds is another minute closer to death for the person who is trying to survive. More distant services have to cover for Essex and the response time is negatively aected there as well. The goal for this emergency medical service is to provide faster response times and as a result saving lives.
