name is Ashley, and I am raising my son Atticus after the sudden death of his father.
After his father passed away, responsibility for the estate — including the home — fell to members of his father’s family. They were entrusted with managing the estate, maintaining payments, and protecting assets meant to benefit a child who had just lost his parent.
That did not happen.
While Atticus’s father’s family controlled the estate, mortgage payments were not made, bills went unpaid, and the home was not preserved in sellable or stable condition. No action was taken to protect the property or prevent mounting losses. By the time I was able to step in and uncover the full scope of what had occurred, the home was already facing foreclosure and the damage was extensive.
The system was supposed to safeguard my son’s interests during this process. Instead, the failures of both the system and the adults responsible for the estate have left Atticus with devastating losses.
This is not about attacking anyone.
This is about telling the truth.
A child lost his father — and then lost the protections he was entitled to because those entrusted with responsibility did not fulfill it.
I am now fighting alone to salvage what remains for my son. The financial burden of correcting these failures — emergency legal costs, back payments, and time-sensitive estate expenses — has fallen entirely on me, and it is more than one parent can handle without help.
I am creating this Spotfund to protect Atticus’s future and to be transparent about how this situation occurred. I refuse to let my son quietly absorb the consequences of choices he had no control over.
Funds raised will go toward:
Mitigating foreclosure-related losses tied to the estate
Covering urgent legal and administrative costs
Preserving whatever assets can still be protected for Atticus’s future
If you are able to help, thank you.
If you cannot, sharing this story still matters.
This is about accountability.
This is about honesty.
And most of all, this is about a child who deserves better than what he was given.
