Unfortunately I had to move this past July from a toxic environment last minute into a new apartment which has negligent management.
We have a rodent and roach issue which has been handled terribly by our management company. We are not even 3 months into the lease and they have ignored emails and calls for this issue to be addressed. When they did finally send an exterminator (a man well in his 50s or 60s) he sexually harassed me and made lewd comments about my appearance and body despite me wearing a t shirt and jeans. This exterminator did not patch the one hole he found and did not inspect the whole apartment. My roommate and I sent multiple emails about this issue as well as the sexual harassment I endured and they still keep sending him to the apartment even though my roommate and I reached out to a different exterminator who told us it would be best to leave the apartment before the issue of rodents and negligent management get worse.
There were multiple mouse holes found by the new exterminator around the apartment and roaches were coming out of our dishwasher. The new exterminator did a thorough inspection of our apartment and found holes nearly everywhere as well as mess from previous tenants under appliances that has obviously not been cleaned up in years. This exterminator also said upon arriving to the apartment complex he could literally smell dead rodents in the walls of the building and that he can patch the holes in our unity for now and lay down poision but it is not gonna solve the rodent problem and it would be best to leave as soon as we can.
On top of this, the management company has withheld our mail key for 1.5 months and when they finally gave it to us they gave it to our neighbor who we do not know or conset to having our mail key, to deliver to us. We were not able to access our mail for over a month despite sending multiple emails and making phone calls that got ignored.
My roommate and I have not paid rent for September in protest of these conditons and we want to move out by November to beat the cold and so we can avoid further rodent issues. This GFM is to help me pay October rent while we stay here one final month and the remainder is to be a security deposit and first month's rent on a new apartment.
