My boys and I are asking for a little help as we try to rebuild after the flooding that forced us out of our apartment. We were evacuated because of the damage in the area, and we were recently informed that we will not be able to return to our home. What we thought would be a temporary situation has now turned into having to find a completely new place to live.
We are currently in a difficult position financially. Our security deposit will not be returned for up to 45 days, and we have also been told that we will not be receiving any money back for the rent we paid for August. That leaves us needing to come up with the money for a new security deposit, first month's rent, moving expenses, and the basic necessities that come with getting settled somewhere new—all while trying to make sure my boys have some sense of stability through all of this.
I have always tried to provide for my boys and handle things on my own, so asking for help is not easy. But right now, I'm putting my pride aside and asking for support. Any amount, no matter how small, would help us tremendously and bring us one step closer to having a safe, stable place we can call home again.
