Hello, my name is Kristen Harris-Miller and I am coordinating this fundraiser on behalf of my father, who has been incarcerated for over 25 years and is currently serving his sentence. I met my father through a phone call in 2015, and since then, I have been trying to find ways to help take care of him, or at least lighten the load for him. He doesn't have many people who can help him purchase basic necessities like food, clothes, and hygiene products from the prison commissary.
My father and I haven't seen each other since I was a toddler. He deeply regrets the struggles I've had to endure in my life and blames himself for them. All he wants is to see his only daughter and embrace her. He wants to become a better person for himself, society, and most importantly, for me. We have received news that he may be released next year, and I want to make this fundraiser to help him get established in his new life after being incarcerated for all these years.
My father is a kind, loving, intelligent, and God-fearing Muslim man. Despite being in prison, he has completed various classes and courses with honors and works as a person who cleans the deceased. Unfortunately, he earns very little, but he remains humble and appreciative of his job. All he wants is a second chance, and I believe he deserves it.
I think that everyone deserves a second chance, and not everyone in prison is a bad person. I hope that this moves you to contribute to the fundraiser for my father. He deserves to be released and not have to worry about how he will survive.
