I am a single mom and have adopted seven children with special needs internationally. My four girls have varying degrees of cerebral palsy and either present like they had a stroke, walk with a walker, or use a power wheelchair to get around. Two of my boys have medical issues and one is a leg amputee and wears a prosthesis. My children range in age from 12 to 20. Their birth countries include Bulgaria, China, Russia, Guatemala, and Ethiopia. All four of my girls and my son who uses a prosthesis compete in para sports which are sports that lead up to the Paralympics. They compete in track and field, archery, swimming, cycling, powerlifting, cerebral palsy soccer, power, soccer, wheelchair basketball, triathlon, and other adaptive sports.
I found this boy online living in a west African orphanage. He was abandoned at birth and has no legs. He participated briefly in a swimming program and loved it, and really excelled. This spoke to my heart as a mom of many para athletes. He needs our family. We are a perfect fit. I have already started scheduling doctor and fingerprint appointments for all of my children as the amount of appointments and paperwork that needs to be completed for an international adoption is plentiful!
I can provide an amazing home and family for this child. He will have a good life with us and be able to pursue sports he never dreamed possible! I am asking for your help to raise $35,000 to make this possible. This part of the adoption journey is the toughest and the most humbling for me. I have no savings as every penny goes into providing for expenses for my children including medical, surgeries, bracing, equipment, supplies, etc.. We seriously live paycheck to paycheck. This orphan just celebrated his 11th birthday in October. I’d like it to be his last birthday celebrated alone without a family.
