A Devastating Turn of Events
In 2021, Cameron was diagnosed with epilepsy after experiencing three Grand Mal (tonic-clonic) seizures. With the help of treatment, his seizures remained under control—until June 2024. Out of nowhere, Cameron suffered a severe seizure in the middle of a restaurant, a shocking and terrifying moment for both of us. This seizure left him with a black eye, bruised ribs, and a dislocated left arm, requiring medical intervention and weeks of recovery.
An Alarming Escalation
For three years, Cameron's epilepsy was managed, but since June 2024, everything has changed. In September, he experienced another unexpected seizure. Since then, he has endured nine more seizures, all occurring randomly—sometimes at home, sometimes in public. The impact has been severe, leading to repeated injuries. His left shoulder has been dislocated four more times, and now, his right shoulder has been dislocated twice. Two of his seizures were so violent that both shoulders dislocated simultaneously. The pain, uncertainty, and medical toll have been overwhelming.
The Physical and Emotional Toll
The toll on Cameron has been immense. Each seizure leaves him physically exhausted, mentally drained, and emotionally overwhelmed. The unpredictability of his seizures means he can no longer engage in many of the activities he once enjoyed. Even simple daily tasks are now fraught with risk. The pain from repeated injuries has made mobility difficult, and his confidence has been shattered. He struggles with fear, anxiety, and the emotional burden of feeling like a burden to those around him. The once independent, energetic young man now finds himself constantly dependent on others for help.
Urgent Medical Needs
We are working tirelessly with doctors to manage his condition, but without health insurance, our options are extremely limited. The financial burden has become unbearable, with ambulance rides, emergency room visits, and ongoing medical expenses piling up. To get the answers and treatment he desperately needs, Cameron must undergo:
- An extended EEG test to identify seizure triggers and assess brain damage.
- Surgery on his left shoulder to repair damage and prevent further dislocations.
- Further medical evaluations and treatments to regain control over his epilepsy.
- Specialist consultations to explore alternative treatment plans.
- Physical therapy to help regain mobility and strength in his shoulders.
The Financial Strain
The cost of medical care without insurance is staggering. Every ambulance ride costs thousands of dollars, and every emergency room visit adds more debt. The EEG test alone is estimated to cost several thousand dollars. Shoulder surgery is another major expense. Beyond the direct medical costs, there are also indirect costs—lost work hours, additional transportation expenses for appointments, and the need for ongoing physical therapy. We have exhausted all our savings, and we are struggling to keep up with rent, bills, and basic necessities.
A Fight Against the System
Cameron has been denied Medicaid twice, and despite the hospital’s efforts to assist, we are still struggling to secure the necessary financial aid. The system is not built to help those who fall into the cracks—too sick to work, but not sick enough to qualify for immediate assistance. We are fighting against time, bureaucracy, and an overwhelming financial burden.
How You Can Help
We are reaching out to kind-hearted individuals who can help us through this incredibly difficult time. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward Cameron’s medical expenses, treatments, and essential living costs. Your generosity can help:
Cover essential medical tests and treatments
Fund Cameron’s shoulder surgery
Assist with ongoing therapy and rehabilitation
Ease the burden of overwhelming hospital bills
Help with living expenses so we can focus on Cameron’s recovery
Every Dollar Counts
Even a small contribution can make a massive difference. If 2,000 people donate just $10 each, we would be able to cover Cameron’s medical tests and begin the process of getting him the treatment he needs. If 1,000 people donate $20, we could pay for his shoulder surgery. If 500 people donate $40, we could cover his medical debt and move forward without the constant stress of unpaid bills.
Beyond Donations – Other Ways to Help
We understand that not everyone is in a position to donate, but there are other meaningful ways to help:
- Share this campaign with your family, friends, and social media networks. The more people who see it, the better chance we have of reaching our goal.
- Offer resources or contacts who may be able to assist with medical costs, insurance, or alternative funding.
- Send words of encouragement to Cameron to help lift his spirits during this challenging time.
Cameron Deserves a Future
At just 20 years old, Cameron deserves to live a life without the constant fear of seizures and injuries. Before this, he was thriving, full of dreams and ambition. Now, he is battling a condition that has taken so much from him. With your support, we can help him reclaim his life.
A Mother’s Plea
As Cameron’s mother, watching my son go through this has been heartbreaking. No parent wants to see their child suffer, and it’s devastating to feel helpless in the face of such a relentless condition. I have done everything I can to support him, but I can’t do this alone. That’s why I’m reaching out to you—because I know that there are good, compassionate people in this world who believe in helping those in need.
Your Support Means Everything
Asking for help is never easy, but we have exhausted all other options. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing Cameron’s story. Your kindness, prayers, and support mean the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of Cameron’s journey to recovery.
