During the recent ice storm, we are without power going on 17 days. The first week without electricity caused us to lose a significant amount of food from our fridge and freezer.
We were able to borrow a generator to keep essentials running, but the fuel alone has cost $20–$25 per day, which quickly adds up. Between fuel costs and replacing lost groceries, the financial strain has been overwhelming.
