In order for us to continue, we need help.
We do not ever want to have to turn any animal in need away, but we can not continue with out support.
We have taken in 13 Sugar Gliders, 3 Bearded Dragons & counting.
Recently we took in 3 Sugar Gliders that were neglected and malnourished.
Our most recent little guy had his arm amputated last week due to tumors attached to his blood vessels and nerves. He is recovering but still has a long road ahead as we are waiting on results to determine if the tumors are cancer.
June we took in a little girl that was so tiny she could barely lift her head to eat or drink water.
She was caked in urine and feces to the point we were unsure of her color.
The first few days the only thing she wanted was to curl up on our chest against our heart beat. We were not sure she was going to make it. She is believed to be 6 years old; it was soul crushing to think this is how she lived her entire life.
Her vet appointment revealed that she was in worse shape than we thought.
She had teeth that were rotting into her sinuses and needed to have them extracted.
Due to her condition we had to put her on antibiotic and pain medication for almost a month in hopes we could get her weight up so they could perform the procedure to help her mouth.
She has been eating a soft food diet and finally gained enough weight to allow the vets to perform the teeth extractions she desperately needed. You can see her updates in the update section.
March we took in 2 Sugar Gliders that someone dropped off on our front porch.
These little ones had nothing but a heat rock in a time rusted cage.
They were both very tiny and terrified of people. Due to their limited movement we could tell they had not been out of their cage much if at all. They were both very underweight and had very thin fur.
Fortunately, they did not have major medical issues, just malnourished and neglected.
We have them on a special diet to help them gain the weight regrow their fur.
February we took in a Bearded Dragon that was completely black, her previous family had lost interest in her,
She was loved as some point.
She had issues with her front feet and struggles to walk.
She was so full of worms and parasites it took 3 full sets of treatment over 3 months to get rid of them.
January we took in 3 Sugar Gliders that the previous owner did not know anything about them other then 1 was under 1 year old.
We came to find out she was pregnant.
She was in a cage with 2 much older much bigger males.
She ended up losing both babies as she was too young and much too small to successfully carry them.
We found this out when 1 can out of pouch early and we did our best to hand raise her, after an emergency trip to the vet’s office, baby had no chance to survive.
This was one of the hardest days we have experienced on this journey.
This is only a few of them we have taken in, we understand that times are tough and we all can get in over our heads.
We do not judge as it takes so much love to admit our own failures and seek out help or surrender them. We offer the best possible care we can with a team of amazing vets.
