As many know, I spent two weeks in Tanzania this April. While I was able to have great experiences hiking Mount Kilimanjaro and going on safari, the real motive behind my trip was to volunteer as a nurse abroad. During my time in Tanzania, my eyes were opened to the great need for healthcare and deficit in medical knowledge. In my few years working in healthcare, I have never had my heart ache the way it did for the people of Tanzania. They are loving, welcoming, and always finding joy. However, their hospitals lack important technology and machines that help with routine care. It’s my goal to raise money for the hospital I spent my two weeks volunteering at- Levolosi. A small hospital in Arusha that is expected to expand to a new building in order to treat more patients in late 2026. Things we take for granted- blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, gloves, etc -are luxuries in Tanzania and are not easily affordable.
Unfortunately, it is illegal to bring medical equipment to Tanzania. Because of this, I am raising money and will be transferring it directly to Levolosi Hospital’s Medical Director Dr. Nathan.
