Hi everyone, Bible N3rd here! 📖💖
Many of you followed my journey last summer. Thanks to your incredible generosity and prayers, I made it to Israel, and it started out as a truly life-changing trip. Standing in the historic sites in the Holy Land made the Bible completely come alive for me.
But as many of you remember from my urgent updates, our trip was suddenly cut short. About one week in, we witnessed the Prime Minister’s motorcade pull up to the Western Wall. Hours later, at 3:00 AM, the region erupted with the opening strikes of Operation Rising Lion.
I still have the videos of watching missiles getting shot down and hearing the alerts to find the closest bomb shelters. What followed was a chaotic, stressful scramble for safety. With airspace closing down and flights canceling left and right, our team had to navigate and piece together a route back home to the U.S., which included crossing over the border to Jordan and flying out to Cairo before securing a flight to NYC.
We made it back safely, but my heart stayed behind. I didn't get to finish the mission. We missed our visit to the Israel Museum, as well as our entire second week scheduled in and around the Sea of Galilee. We also had plans to visit Megiddo. The start of last year's trip was at the Museum of the Bible in D.C., where they were housing the Megiddo Mosaic. It was a rare chance to see the mosaic in the museum and then actually stand in Israel where they discovered it!
This September, I'm stepping out in faith once again to go back and finish what we started.
