Welcome to Team Fiona
I'm overwhelmed by kindness of my community We have been blessed abundantly. Having her walker paid off is a miracle in itself.. Fiona started using her robotic walker with 10 steps a day and now 2500 a day. In that time we saw Fiona getting stronger, she was more attentive and also started talking. it is really making a difference in her life. Fiona's brain abnormality creates many setbacks. Learning to communicate with us is the hardest to over come but we work hard everyday. Fiona is blessed with amazing teachers and drs and most importantly nurses. now that we have the walker paid off, that's one less thing for us to worry about.
So who is Fiona Marcella Italiano?
Fiona is 9 yr old living with a rare brain abnormality called Semilobar Holoprosencephaly (HPE) There's a 3% chance of a baby surviving HPE, made it to birth but out of that 3% only 1% survive to see 6 months.
fiona isn't just living with HPE. She's also living with Down syndrome. Fiona is the only child (that we know of) to survived HPE with down syndrome, and she was also born with a broken heart. Fiona was also born with Tetralogy of Fallot . Thank you so much for caring about our girl! I always say “Fiona is a beautiful puzzle from heaven with no picture and I’m blindly putting her life and body together”
