My name is Michelle Turnbow, and I’m raising funds for educational scholarships and heart research through the AHA Go Red x Miss America collaboration. The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women has joined forces with the Miss America Scholarship Foundation to raise both research dollars AND tuition scholarships, ensuring a healthier, smarter future for women in America.
This mission is personal to me. My grandma, who is also my best friend, had a stroke last year. Watching her recovery opened my eyes to how serious heart disease really is, not just for the person going through it, but for the whole family. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women, and we need more research, education, and awareness to change that.
I also know the difference scholarships make. Growing up in a single-parent household, I’ve seen firsthand how hard it can be to afford education. Scholarships give young women opportunities they might never have otherwise, and they truly change lives.

Miss America and Miss America's Teen National Scholarships are awarded by a separate non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the Miss America's Scholarship Foundation Inc. This collaboration provides funds for national awards, and in addition, both Miss America's/Miss America's Teen State Scholarships and the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement. The American Heart Association's Go Red for Women is Miss America's Scholarship Foundation's national health thought leader. All above mentioned entities are 501(c)(3) organizations and all donations to this campaign are fully tax-deductible per IRS regulations.
