On March 13, 2023, Madison was admitted to Norton's Children's Hospital for the beginning stages of sepsis, osteomyelitis, and severe cellulitis. She was discharged on March 18, 2023.
Unexpectedly, Madison's pediatrician advised Madison's parents to take her back to Norton's on March 21, 2023 due to Madison contracting a fever and being unable to keep any fluids down. Madison was readmitted to Norton's for treatment for dehydration, and the family was later notified that she contracted Norovirus.
Madison will have a long road of recovery and will be working with Norton's specialty teams to ensure her healing. It is imperative that Madison does not contract any other illnesses to allow her body to heal and prevent further infection that could be a cause for surgery, etc. Madison's parents are working on setting up home health services so that she can continue with her regular schooling.
Due to the multiple hospital visits/stays, routes of treatment, and an expected long healing journey, Madison's parents are in for a road of financial hardship in order to ensure Madison receives the best care.
I am asking for help for this family who are near and dear to my heart. Caleb (step-dad) is the financial provider for the family and has missed out on nearly 2 weeks of work to care for Madison. Lost wages and future foreseeable expenses are a big stressor for the family, and any donation will be helpful.
