The difficulty of being and staying a “Good Kid” in today’s society are widely ignored, taken for granted and poorly or almost never considered. Today, let’s support a good kid, start here and now. Let’s help more everyday. Allegra Walker a young superwoman has been raised by her dad since being abandoned by her mom at 12 years old. At 4 years old Allegra instinctively sat by her dad’s side as he battled kidney cancer, after an 8 year battywith spinal nerve damage fron a work related fall, his sole motivation was surviving for his 3small children. Left to raise 3 small children alone, after recovering and divorcing he took on the guardianship responsibility. Allegra was forced to growup without her mother in her life and her dad unexpectedly had to be creative about filling an complex void. During her dad’s recovery Allegra faced abandonment, homelessness, living in hotels, a Homeless Shelter where a young girl was raped, mutiple building fires, displacement and almost being forced by NYCDOE to repeat the 11th grade after being honored by the National Honor Societythe year before, a devastating smack in the face, to eventually pass five (5) New York State Regents Exams attend Baruch College, American Language High School (ASL 47) , finally being accepted to State University of New York at Albany’s Honors College and 3 + 3 Pre Law Program. Through it all Allegro is not bitter, did the right thing and remained a “Good Kid”
Please help Allegra be all that she can be as she leaves her Teaching Assistant Job at the YMCA to become a Full Time Law Student at Albany Law School.
