Help Emily Teach Without Pain

Hello, I'm Emily Barrett, and I'm thrilled to have recently accepted a position as a choir teacher at Monroe High School. It’s been quite a journey to get here, filled with both excitement and challenges. Over the past two years, I achieved something I’m incredibly proud of: losing 100 pounds. This accomplishment, however, brought its own set of difficulties. I have lipedema, resulting in excess skin on my arms that rubs painfully when I conduct, sometimes causing rashes. Although a surgeon classified this as a serious medical issue, my insurance unexpectedly refused to cover the necessary surgery. Financially, I’m in a bind. Beyond the mounting medical costs, the $7,000 needed just to move and set up my new life in Monroe is daunting. I’m ready to pour my heart into teaching and nurture the amazing talent of my new students, but I need help securing the basics like moving expenses, classroom supplies, and initial bills as I settle into this community. Navigating these hurdles alone is overwhelming, but each day I am motivated by the thought of the classroom filled with voices eager to learn and create music together.
