Ever since I was a child watching Madeline, I have been deeply in love with the French language. But for me, French isn’t just beautiful, it’s in my blood. Half of my family speaks French, living across Montreal and Haiti. I grew up listening to a language that connects me directly to my heritage, and I have always known that my future belonged in France. In high school I was urged to take Spanish because I grew up in Florida and it was practical but French was in my heart.
Now, I am ready to turn this lifelong love into a career. My ultimate dream is to become a conference interpreter for UNESCO, using the language I love to help others fight to preserve the beauty we have left in this world.
To get there, I need to achieve absolute academic fluency. I am moving to France to enroll in an intensive university language program (DUEF). This program will fast-track my skills so I can transition directly into a French Bachelor’s degree and professional interpretation training.
However, moving across the world to pursue this dream requires clearing a massive financial hurdle. The French government requires international students to prove significant upfront funding before they will grant a student visa.
