Help Us Fight Unfair Eviction

June 4th 2026 Our landlord took a partial payment of $450, during the time of picking up the money order my husband and the landlord had a discussion about the error he texted him earlier in the day before the money was picked up my husband discussed how we only had $450 dollars but the following week June 17th we will pay the remainder of what we owe and the landlord agreed. June 16th we were served with eviction papers with the accusations of we refused to pay rent which is not true at all, we explained to him the reason why the week after June 4th we couldn't pay it because his check would be low and we needed to pay our lights which was $206.00 but with the fee applied for using a debit card it was $211.00. The main reason why we got behind to begin with is because my husband and I were a victim of Skimming which I tried to show the landlord proof of the $846.00 that was taken from us which hurt us tremendously we don't just have $846.00 dollars to make up for what was taking, my husband does work and I receive SSI and we do our best to pay our bills on time. I will post everything we have for proof. We will file our motion for court Friday and receive a court hearing to fight this because we never once refused to pay rent at all but he's tacking on so much it's draining us right when we thought we got ahead now we are back in a financial bind and don't know how we are going to be able to cover all this plus try and survive.
