Lane and Carmen have finally realized a long- time dream of purchasing a home. They had a need to move 5 hours away to their new place. They hired what appeared to be a legitimate small moving company. What happened next is what nightmares are made of... not only did the crew show up and do things they were not asked to do (packing boxes - so poorly and carelessly done that almost nothing arrived even in the truck unbroken) but after they tried to force Lane to pay them even more money for an incredibly sub-par job by holding their household goods hostage after Lane and Carmen had left to take a load to the new place, they were requested to leave by the house owner.
They left only momentarily. They returned and proceeded to destroy an entire household full of furniture, appliances, and all other manner of household goods - literally emptying out a moving truck into the street and then doing more damage inside the home. He has been arrested and charged but that doesn't fix the damage.
Lane ended up needing to hire another moving crew with no notice with most of the little funds they had left.
Like most of us, Lane and Carmen, who are parents to their 13 year old grandson, live paycheck to paycheck. Replacing an entire household of necessary items is beyond their scope of financial ability at this current time. They are trying desperately to salvage all they can but there will be much they can't afford to replace any time in the near future without help.
