Stick with me while I try to get all of this out - for the last almost 2 years, Beebs has had lymphoma in her throat. Specifically, on the right side of her throat. I found the lump in the Fall of ‘24. Her vet, at the time, confirmed it was probably cancerous; but we couldn’t remove it because there was a major artery running through it. She was already 10 years old. I had plans to have her teeth cleaned and the huge mass on her chest removed before we even found the thing in her throat; but the addition of the lymphoma stopped everything in its tracks.
At the time, we were given months for her survival. Last August, we took her to Cheddar’s in their stroller, bought her a cheeseburger, and they got to pick out toys at Home Goods.
Fast forward a year later, to today. Beebs comes to me this morning, having a lot of trouble breathing. Her throat is terribly swollen, on both sides. Like an allergic reaction of some sort. Long story short, the Vet told us it’s a miracle she’s still with us. However, it’s highly likely we’ve reached the end of the road. The lymphoma has reach a stage of aggression where she likely has hours, to days left. The option to let her cross the Rainbow Bridge was given today. I absolutely could not do that.
For the next 7 days, she will have the best time of her life, with her family. I have the luxury to reschedule my clients, but that still leaves the income on hold, too. I just need help. I’ll be setting up a GoFundMe for anything she can get to make the week happen. It will also help me to pay for the huge bill I incurred today with the emergency vet, along with what her end of life care will cost. As always, I am more than willing to trade my professional services for anything you can spare. I’d honestly feel better about that, anyway. I have local references, should you need them.
I’ve never done this before. I’ve never gone through this. I’m incredibly thankful the universe is letting me wade into these waters, rather than having me belly flop from several stories up. I know that today, I’m incredibly weepy, sick to my stomach, lost, and doing my best to not absolutely lose my shit. I see quite a bit of medication in my future to help me stay focused on her 😅. But, seriously, please give me some recommendations for what you did for your fur babies when you went through this? I want to spend every waking moment I have with her making it so great, she doesn’t remember anything else.
Thank you for reading this. If you know anything about me and what’s important, it’s my girls. They are where my heart is. I’m incredibly nervous about the hole I know this will blow into every fiber of my being. Please be kind and patient with me as I learn to navigate the waters of a completely different existence without my Little Mouse.
This picture is the night I brought her home, November 2014.
