This is a call for help!

Our dear friend Dola has been seeking treatment on the mainland for an infection in her neck that turned out to be cancer!! She has been diagnosed with Small Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Her prognosis is good as it was caught early but as she awaits results from yet another round of expensive tests her Doctors have laid out her treatment options and as such she will need to undergo various rounds of chemotherapy. With all the tests and treatments the cost far outweighs what she is able to pay on her own so this is where we come in.
She needs our help. She needs her friends, her community, her village.

If you know her you know that she is incredibly hardworking, strong, smart, caring, generous but above all else loving. The love she has for her family and her dogs is incomparable! Though she doesn’t have children of her own she is very close with her nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and grand nephews. She feeds every dog or cat she finds on the road and has been known to adopt every dog in her neighborhood that decides they like her home best. Beyond that she always supports the children not only in her neighborhood in Sandy Bay but also in West End and her native Oakridge. She lends a hand whenever she is needed. So it’s only fair that we return the favor now that she needs it for herself.

Please, will you help her fight for her life? She would do it for you! And your dog!

No donation is too small as it all adds up and every little bit counts but larger donations help get the bills paid that much quicker! So please give what you can and help her put this all behind her so she can live a long, happy and healthy life.

As you all know Dola has been fighting cancer for the last year.

It’s crazy to think that it’s been an entire year since she left to find out what kind of infection was causing the swelling in her neck. It took many rounds of tests to come up with a proper diagnosis.

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL).

She has endured over 40 radiation treatments as well as 7 rounds of immuno and chemotherapy!
As she recovers from her latest round of chemo, which was last week, and waits to hear the results from her latest scans, a group of amazing people have mobilized to help get her business back up and running a few of which are former employees!!

If you remember, her restaurant remained open for a time while she was receiving treatment and due to lack of proper management she was forced to close back in September of 2025. She believed (as we all did) that she would be back at Christmas but sadly that didn’t happen as her scans came back abnormal and she required more treatment.

After she finished those treatments she came home to try to put her life back together. She quickly realized her body was not ready for what was necessary to get back on her feet. Cleaning her house was a struggle never mind deep cleaning and renovating a restaurant that has sat untouched for 6 months!
So she grappled with the thought of selling… it would be easier to let go and move on and do something else but it just wouldn’t be the same.
She just didn’t know what to do, she was tired, she has been fighting for her life and now she has to fight for her livelihood and she doesn’t have anything left.
So she waited and the answer came. It came in the form of people. They said they would help her get back because selling was NOT an option.

And they got to work, they gutted the restaurant, they found a new manager, they got a few of her staff to come back and hired a few others as well so now it’s just a matter of getting is all together.

But as you know, all of this costs money. Money she hasn’t made since last September. The last of her donations were spent on treatments LAST YEAR and she has been living off of credit cards and her family’s support ever since.

Please help her now as she gets ready for her next chapter. There is no way she could’ve gotten this far without all of the love and support she has received throughout the year and most especially now that she is so close to being on the other side of this.
She is, however, still receiving treatments and will continue to do so every two months for the foreseeable future, but helping her get back on her feet without the crippling debt of credit cards and medical bills will make it that much better.

So please donate with your heart, she really needs it now; she really needs YOU now.

Hello friends,

I’ve been putting off doing this update because it’s not the news I was expecting to share.

Dola (and the rest of us, especially me) was expecting to be done with treatment and ready to return home and get back to work. It was all we were focused on. Well she finished her treatments in October and had her scans done in early November.

Her results came back abnormal. So they did more tests. Sadly, she has to do more immunotherapy as well as 23 more radiation treatments! The doctors say that her prognosis is good and we’re all still trying to stay positive but this just feels like a punch in the gut. We have to wait and see what it all looks like after she completes these treatments. She is choosing to remain positive and she’s actively taking care of herself, y’all know how much chemo damages the body so she’s keeping her dentist appointments and working on keeping her body as strong as possible so these treatments don’t sideline her more than necessary and she can still live life.
That being said, she needs more support.
Please be sure to check in with her, and if you’re able make another donation. She never expected to be sidelined this long, the restaurant has been closed since September and with no funds coming in from anywhere things are very tight for the family.
This year has been very hard on this family so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you everyone for your support; and if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Hey everyone!

Dola has completed her second round of chemo and is focusing on staying healthy and active while she continues to receive treatment in Tegucigalpa.
So far everything is moving right along as expected and aside from feeling rundown from the chemo she is in good spirits.
We are all so grateful for all the support and love she has been receiving throughout this life altering  diagnosis and process.
We appreciate you all so much.

Thank you so much for everything ♥️
