A year ago, my life looked very different than it does today.
This past year has been the hardest, but also the most transformative, of my life. I've spent every day working to rebuild from the ground up. I've celebrated 10 months of sobriety, faced the consequences of my past, and stayed committed to creating a healthier, more stable future. None of it has been easy, but every challenge has strengthened my determination to keep moving forward.
I'm working toward being reunited with my son, and every positive choice I make is with that goal in mind. I've learned that rebuilding a life doesn't happen through one big moment. It happens through hundreds of small decisions made day after day, even when no one is watching.
Today, one of the biggest obstacles I have left is getting my driver's license back. To do that, I need to complete Maine's DEEP program and pay the required reinstatement fees. Unfortunately, I don't have the financial means to cover those costs on my own.
Having my license back would mean so much more than being able to drive. It would give me reliable transportation to work, appointments, and school. It would help me continue building stability and remove one more barrier as I work toward bringing my son home.
I'm not asking anyone to erase my past. I'm asking for help reaching the next milestone in a journey I've already dedicated myself to.
If you've watched me grow this past year, thank you for believing in me. If you don't know me personally, I hope my story reminds you that people can change when they're willing to put in the work. We can and do recover.
