While reporting for The Grayzone in Israel-Palestine this October, Jeremy Loffredo was arbitrarily arrested by the Israeli military, then accused by Israel’s police of “supporting the enemy during wartime” - a crime that carries a maximum penalty of death or life in prison. He spent the next three days in solitary confinement in an Israeli jail, and subjected to several extended interrogations about the bogus allegations before being deported.

During this period, his laptop, phone, external hard drive, and wallet were seized and searched by Israeli police. We now have reason to believe his devices were implanted with the malicious Pegasus system or other Israeli spyware.

Because Jeremy was far from the only US reporter to report the locations of the missile strikes, his persecution was obviously political – vengeance for the explosive reports he previously produced from the ground in Israel-Palestine, and for his affiliation with The Grayzone.

Now that Jeremy is back home in New York, he is speaking out about Israel’s shocking war on journalism, and working on important new projects. That's why we’re writing you to ask for your support.

Jeremy has not only produced hard-hitting reporting from occupied Palestine, where he embedded himself with genocidal settlers and exposed their campaign to block humanitarian aid to Gaza, but from East Palestine, Ohio, where he gave voice to locals who felt abandoned after a massive chemical spill. He has visited Lahaina, Hawaii, where a massive fire destroyed a community withstanding decades of colonialism and gentrification. And his reporting from inside Russian centers for youth evacuated from the Donbas exposed the reality of the US proxy war in Ukraine.

In his next documentary project, Jeremy takes his camera to the poorest and most neglected congressional district in the country, a Democratic stronghold in the South Bronx, where its AIPAC-sponsored representative, Ritchie Torres, spends more time attending to the interests of Israel - the country whose lobby has paid for his career - than to his poor and working class constituents.

Jeremy needs your support for important future projects like these, but he also needs to replace the devices which were stolen and compromised by Israeli police.

In supporting Jeremy’s work, you are building the future of independent antiwar journalism, and sustaining The Grayzone as a home for the work of fearless young journalists like him.
