On November 3rd, 2023 my nephew’s two year old son, Ryder, was in a drowning accident. He spent 4 ½ weeks in the pediatric intensive care unit, then moved to the neuro unit where he is still recovering at Johns Hopkins All Children Hospital. The plan is for Ryder to be transferred to a pediatric rehabilitation hospital in Baltimore Maryland for intensive therapy. Due to Ryder’s critical condition and daily needs his parents have not left his side since the day of the accident. They will both accompany Ryder to Baltimore where he will stay in the rehab hospital for weeks or possibly months of therapy.

With many, many prayers and much love, Ryder survived and is progressing but still has a long, hard road ahead of him. You can make a significant impact for the Cornthwait-Rogers family by helping them focus on Ryder’s recovery so he can return home. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in Ryder’s life as well as in the lives of his parents. Your contributions will be used towards medical expenses, the expense of traveling to and staying in Baltimore, as well as lost wages from time away from work.

With financial assistance, medical professionals, continued prayers and faith in God, we can all help with Ryder’s Recovery.   Galatians 6:10 ~ "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."

With deep appreciation,

Janet Parks and family

He's making progress. Thank you for your help.

Update 2/10/24 Ryder was finally flown by air ambulance to the Pediatric Rehab in Baltimore two weeks ago. He is receiving four therapies a day. His Mom and Dad remain by his side and are very involved participating in his care to help him progress as much as possible. He is making progress. We want to again, thank all of you who have helped with your donations and ask that you continue to pray for Ryder's recovery and for his parents as struggle through this difficult time. Please share his story so others may find it in their hearts to help.

With many, many prayers and much love, Ryder is progressing and working very, very hard in therapy to re-learn to walk, eat, use his arms and hands and to communicate. Ryder's father, Justin, who is now a single parent, and his family are continually seeking new and innovative treatment options to help him in any and every way possible in his recovery.

One of these ways is the Apex Brain Center in Ashville North Carolina under the care of Dr Trayford, an expert in traumatic brain injuries, who has documented life-changing outcomes for his patients. The treatment there would require a fifteen day stay with daily outpatient treatments. Ryder's father Justin would accompany him to NC and stay by his side throughout the treatments.

Justin is currently only able to work two to three days a week since he takes Ryder to therapy three days a week and provides the 24-hour care that three-year-old Ryder requires. Needless to say, the cost of the treatment at Apex plus the cost of travel and housing is beyond his means at this time. That being said we are starting a new Spotfund campaign for Ryder. Please see the new campaign: RydersRehab.

With faith in God, financial assistance, medical professionals, continued prayers and we can all help with Ryder’s Recovery.   Galatians 6:10 ~ "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."

With deep appreciation,

Ryder and family

4/17/24 Update: After almost three months in the Kennedy Krieger Children's Rehab in Baltimore, Ryder was flown back to Florida on Wednesday 4/10/24 and was readmitted to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. He was released to home on Friday 4/12/24. He had a very rough night and first day home but is beginning to settle in. He requires medications every two hours and round the clock care by both parents. Needless to say, this is very hard on Ryder's parents, Justin and Shana, who have remained by his side since the accident in November.

Ryder is continuing his physical, occupational and speech therapies in an outpatient setting but still has a long, hard road ahead of him. His parents also are pursuing Hyperbaric Oxygen treatments for him. These treatments are not covered by the insurance so we are continuing to try to raise funds for this. Please help if you can and if not please share Ryder's story and continue to pray for his complete recovery as well as for his parents as they provide the round the clock care he needs. We appreciate each and every person that has helped financially and prayerfully.

Thank you for the prayers and gifts that have been sent to help my nephew's little boy and his family. They appreciate each and everyone who has reached out to them in one way or another. Currently they are awaiting the insurance company to correct a mistake made on the contract with the rehab in Baltimore (the rehab that will accept a child his age). Pray for that contract to go through so he can get the therapy he needs without further delay. Please, please continue to pray for the healing and restoration of this precious little boy.
