Team Salish Seasters kindly asks support as we gear up for the Washington 360 Race starting on June 28, 2025!
What's the Washington 360?
The WA 360 is a 360-mile circuit around the Puget Sound from Port Townsend rounding the Olympia Shoal toward Bellingham, passing through either Deception Pass or the Swinomish Channel. Next we head to Point Roberts via Bellingham Bay and return to Port Townsend. No motors. No support.
Is that like a sailing thing?
The choice was between the muscle division and wind division. We think the wind division would be more ... breezy. We will be sailing on our trusty 1978 Santa Cruz 27, equipped with a pedal drive (alternative propulsion), a full set of sails and just enough electronics to keep us on course and provide a little music for the proverbial road - all powered by a single solar panel. Think of it as “minimalist sailing.”
What’s in the team name?
We are four women hailing from the Puget Sound region. With deep respect and gratitude, we honor the original caretakers of the Salish Sea. In their honor, we seek to challenge both our physical and mental selves, as the Salish Coastal Tribal peoples have done since time immemorial.
How will your support be used?
Having made an initial investment in a boat your contributions will help us with registration fees, boat maintenance, sail repairs, original Salish Coastal art for our logo design, provisions and the many expenses that we don’t even know about yet, but will surely pop up over the next few months.
Thank you for your interest and support in our team! Please check back, as we will continue to add photos and other cool links.
Team Salish Seasters! - Melanie, Katie, Stephanie and Karen
