My husband and I are facing the hardest financial hardship of our lives. For the past 8 years, we’ve fought through struggles together, always finding a way to pull through — but this time, we’re stuck and terrified of losing everything we’ve worked so hard for.
In 2024, after years of sacrifice, we finally became first-time homeowners. We thought the worst was behind us. But soon after moving in, we discovered hidden problems — a $1,200 leak behind the shower wall, a broken dishwasher leaking into the basement, uneven flooring, and other urgent repairs we can’t afford to fix.
On top of this, I’ve been battling serious health issues. I have POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) symptoms that leave me faint, nauseous, and unable to work — something I’ve done since I was 14. I’m now in the process of getting an official diagnosis with cardiology.
My husband has been carrying our household financially, working in unsafe conditions at a metal shop that’s denied him overtime, rejected shift changes, and left him unpaid through multiple job-related injuries because worker’s comp would not cover him due to marijuana use (legal in many states but not ours).
Now, with reduced hours, he’s bringing home about $2,400/month — barely enough to cover our mortgage, insurance, utilities, and other basic expenses. We’ve fallen behind on bills and applied for mortgage forbearance to buy us some time. We started out on a downward spiral in September 2024, trying to help out a friend. Which drained our savings in the process. Things were starting to look up in January of 2025, we were starting to get back on track, but then my husband had another unpaid work related injury. Which set us back again. This time leaving us unable to catch back up like we did the 1st time.
To make matters worse, our beloved dog, who’s almost 10, now needs a $2,000 CT scan and treatment for worsening health issues that have led the vet to believe it’s something internal in her head.
We’ve exhausted every option and are asking for help for the first time. Any donation — no matter how small — will go directly toward keeping our home, covering essential bills, and caring for our dog.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading our story. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this — your kindness means the world to us, as we don't get it very often in this world.
