Dear friends,
As you probably know my family comes from the Northern part of the Mexican State of Veracruz. In this region, there are still many indigenous people (named Totonacs) who have been mistreated for many, many years (probably since the Spaniords came to this country). Most of them live under unacceptable conditions (wooden made homes, no runnning water, etc). Local authorities and government, have taken advantage for centuries and work opportunities are very scarce specially for women.
Through one our female workers in our family farm, I learned about Aurelia Jimenez. She is Totonac mother of 2 girls under the age of 10. Her husband and only source or income (not anymore since he cannot work now) is dying of cancer (2 tumor in the brain). Additionally, they lost their home due to hurricaine/tropical storm Grace which hit the region on late August. On top of all this unfortunate events, the older daughter has been expelled from school as she defended herself from bulllying from other schoolmates.
I know that most of my Facebook friendships are busy with their daily lives, and maybe we believe that it is hard to help everyone specially in our "poor" country given the large number of people in need. However, I truly believe that this is a must help at least for me. With little help from you $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 dollars, we can help this family in need feed themselves for some time and even try to rebuilt theit vey humble house. Let's do the right thing!!!! Please join me.
If you want more information about Aurelia and her family, please let me know.
Thank you all!
