This is my Baby Business Shower! While my spouse and I do not plan to procreate, I did decided to create a different baby: ✨Beka's YoGaga, LLC✨ This fundraiser will cover the start up costs of filing for a new yoga business, owned and operated by Rebekah Monroe. For a more detailed expense list or further questions to help you decide to support this business, please reach out to monroe.rebekahj@gmail.com.
The vibes? Yoga. Cats. Lipstick. Sweat. Laugh. 🔁 Repeat 🔁
The anthem? She's here. She's queer. Their foot can go behind their ear! But yours doesn't have to, dear!"
The qualifications? I am a certified yoga teacher (RYT-200) with my Yoga Teacher Training Completed at Yoga Alliance-Certified Studio: Life Yoga, LLC. I also have my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Bowling Green State University.
The story? I first started practicing yoga in a theatre class in Chicago when I was 19. I was perplexed... but intrigued. Down dog? My hips go where? As a white girl who grew up evangelical (and slowly deconstructing at the time), it was a vulnerable way to move my body. However, I quickly fell in love with the empowering feeling I felt after yoga sessions. I felt stronger, yet stretched? I felt more connected to my body? I was able to relieve my own physical discomfort? I WANT MORE! So this queer girlie and her love for Lady Gaga found her yoga... Beka's YoGaga. And you KNOW that means fun times (dropping the occasional ethusiastic F bombs such as, "we can do hard things, cuz we're f**king baddies!), but don't worry... I play all kinds of music not just Lady Gaga! But, be prepared to laugh as I cue the occasional twerk in class. I love the balance of working hard and resting fully, and I'm passionate about the empowering journey that yoga offers. Yoga has been a vital part of my own path toward healing and strength, and I enjoy helping others discover their own. My approach to yoga is as varied as my makeup! I'm trained within the Ashtanga/Vinyasa lineage influenced by Jonny Kest. Community is powerful, and I invite everyone to experience the challenge, fun, and calm of my Vinyasa classes — especially the rewarding feeling of simply lying back and breathing after a good sweat. I also teach restorative classes, yin, slow burn, and other hatha formats! Outside of yoga, I love spending time with my cats, singing jazz, playing with fashion, watching anime, and playing magic the gathering.
The goal? Beka's YoGaga brings yoga to people so that the people don't have to come to yoga, whether that be in corporate offices, break rooms, outdoor spaces, classrooms, nursing homes, or your house for a private event. Not flexible? Then yoga is perfect for you! After all, babies don’t cartwheel out of the womb 🤸🏽. It's natural for flexibility to take consistency and practice. Regardless of your body type, yoga is for everyone, and I can't wait to help you discover your yoga practice! Beka's YoGaga celebrates all size and shaped bodies, is queer-affirming, BIPOC-allied, and intersectional feminist-aligned.
