DAY 41 Last Day of the Strike!
Contract ratified with historic turnout: 3,713 yes votes, 264 no votes β the most votes ever in NYP Nurses history. This strike made history as the largest and longest nurses strike in New York City history (41 days, 6 months of bargaining) Our collective action proved that when nurses stand together, we are powerful. We secured important β though modest β gains in safe staffing and job protections. We preserved full health care coverage, won a wage increase of 4% / 4% / 1β3% (instead of a voucher system), and kept our union intact. (3 year contract)
WE CANNOT THANK EACH OTHER AND OUR SUPPORTERS ENOUGH! This was difficult and we learned a lot about ourselves, our employer, the governor and union leadership. We return with our heads held high and hearts full of hope for what collective action and solidarity can accomplish.Β
Will disperse funds on Tuesday 2/24. THANK YOU for your donations!

Day 39
Less than 2% have crossed the line and that is a testament to the support - emotional, financial, practical - that we have given each other. We give grace to those that have crossed because this is not easy.
Thank you to the donors and to each one for sharing food, time and hope!
And we had nurses at the Visibility Board today in NJ Rt 4 - a great organization and thanks for working with us!
We hold the line for our patients and each other - when we fight, we win!

Day 33
Management has not come to the bargaining table.
Each day management refuses to meet, nurses are forced to choose between their paycheck and their principles. The pressure is intentional: accept a weaker contract or endure financial hardship.
Remaining on the line is not easy β and principles should not be a privilege reserved for those who can afford to wait. This fund exists to support 4200 nurses who need to hold the line as long as it takes to protect their jobs and protect their patients.
We have shown resilience and solidarity, helping one another through per diem work, gig jobs, Medicaid enrollment, unemployment benefits, and cashing out retirement savings.
Our strike is organized by units, and strike captains will help distribute emergency aid to nurses in immediate need. This is day 33 of the strike. This fund will go to nurses.Β
This strike can be over soon because safe staffing and job protection are the only items in dispute. Please support us if you can.
